“Celebrate the life of Gideon Klein with music and literature as Dr David Fligg, Honorary Research Fellow at The Royal Norther College of Music, talks about his book ‘Gideon Klein: Don’t Forget About Me’. The book chronicles the extraordinary and moving story of the young Czech pianist and composer Gideon Klein. His story, along with the compositions which remarkably survived, is a most fascinating narrative of the Holocaust, and documents how one young man continued to make music in the face of evil.

Exclusively at this event, pianist and composer, Chris Miggells will perform a tribute by integrating some of Klein’s complex music into a modern and original piece he has composed for this presentation.”

Debut Album Premiere Concert

FRI 4 AUG | SOLD OUT

SAT 5 AUG | SOLD OUT

Event details

Date: 3rd – 5th August | 7:30PM – 10:00PM

Address: Clipstone Headstocks, Mansfield, NG21 9EH

Tickets: SOLD OUT

“Chris Miggells premieres his debut album in an incredible venue setting ‘The Iron Cathedral’.

“In an awe-inspiring display of artistic vision, Nottinghamshire composer and pianist Chris Miggells revitalised the once abandoned Clipstone Headstocks, a former colliery site vacant for over two decades. The result: a triumphant concert, ‘Live at The Iron Cathedral.’

What makes this event truly extraordinary is the transformation of a disused colliery into an enchanting venue. Miggells recognised the acoustic potential in the towering space, with 50-foot-high ceilings and green-tiled walls echoing above the remnants of historic mining machinery. Amidst the concrete and steel, a Steinway & Sons grand piano worth £100,000, will stand as a symbol of contrast and harmony.

This groundbreaking concert is possibly the first of its kind, within the confines of a derelict colliery site for three sold-out live performances.”
